SOCCER AGE GROUPS DEFINED: For families new to youth soccer, it is helpful to understand the age group definition which is universally applied.
Age groups start with the letter U which means 'under'. Then comes an age number, i.e. 8. Together it is U8.
The age date in the fall is the following Dec. 31 and remains the same thru the following spring.

SPORTS ON THE HILL SOCCER is for ages 3 to 18 years old and for 2 outdoor seasons, Fall and Spring. The Fall season runs from early September to mid-November. The Spring season runs from late March to mid-June. Indoor soccer is played in January and February on Saturday or Sundays.

Rain is not inclement weather. Games will be played unless cancelled due to heavy rain, electrical storms, or field condition. DO NOT assume that games will be cancelled if it is raining or forecast to rain. If in doubt, check the home page for cancellations or with your coach or commissioner.

Spring 2021 soccer schedule for U11 - U19
The age date for U11 - U19 is Dec. 31, 2020. Age on this day determines the age group for the fall 2020 and spring 2021 seasons. Example: age 11 on Dec. 31, 2020 plays U12.
SFL games will be April 17 - June 12/13 except May 29 for U14, 16, and U19 girls and U19 boys.
Please register online - financial aid/scholarship is available. Registration is for the spring seasons.

SFL U11- U19 teams
Spring SFL teams are girls U14, 15, 16, 19 and boys U19.
Teams are formed by SOTH and games are scheduled with teams in the the SFL (Suburban Friendship League), a scheduling organization for recreational teams in northern Virginia and DC. There are 30 soccer clubs with 500 teams in the SFL. See www.sflsoccer.org for more information.
NOTE: Players must be recreational. NO travel team players can play on SFL teams.
Teams are girls or boys (girls may play on boys teams).
Due to cv restrictions in DC, all games are played in Virginia. Most games are played on Sats and some on Sun. afternoons.
Practices are two evenings a week on fields around Capitol Hill.

Under 4 (U4) Coed Cancelled - cv
U4 is for 3 year olds (as of Dec. 31, 2021) and meet at 10:10 to 11 am Saturdays at Providence Park, aka X Park.
Under 5 (U5) Coed Cancelled - cv
U5 is for 4 year olds (as of Dec 31, 2020) and meet at 9 to 10 am on Saturdays at Providence Park, aka X Park.
Kids are divided into small instructional groups for soccer exercises and drills. Kids should wear clothes and shoes for running around outdoors. No special shoes or other equipment is needed.
NOTE: Not all 3 and 4 year olds are ready for soccer related, organized group activities. If in doubt, bring your child for a test run. If they are not ready, try the next season. Discuss any questions with the head coach.
At this age, activities need all parents to help, so come prepared to help and enjoy (re)learning the game with your kids. If you have experience playing and/or coaching soccer, please select the coach or ass't coach category when you register.

Indoor Soccer 2020
NOTE: Indoor soccer is a separate registration from outdoor Fall and Spring. The age groupings are the same as Fall 2019 with the age date of Dec. 31, 2020 determining the age group, i.e players 7 will play U8, for a full season; fall '19 & spring '20'.
Location: Kendall gym on Gallaudet campusU4, U5, U6 Sats.
Sats. Jan. 11 - Feb. 29. (including holiday weekends).
U4, U5, U6; 10 am - 11 am (registration is limited)
Please arrive 10 min. before starting time.
Format will be drills and scrimmage. Shorts and regular running/tennis non-marking shoes are required.
CLEATS/STREET shoes are NOT allowed.
(NOTE: Basketball for 4 and 5 yr olds is offered from 9 - 10am. )
A separate registration and $50 fee is needed.)
Registration is open to all players whether or not they played Fall outdoor soccer. The fee is $50. Please register here.

U7-U12 girls, U9-U12 boys Sun. Jan. 12 - Mar 1 (including holiday weekends) at Kendall gym on Gallaudet campus.
Players are divided into 2 groups for pickup style games by age group. There are no practices.
Shorts and regular non-marking running/tennis shoes are required. CLEATS/STREET shoes are NOT allowed.
Shin guards worn inside soccer socks are required for safety - same as outdoor soccer.
Registration is open to interested players whether or not they have played with SOTH before. The fee is $65. Please register online.
